Sorry to hear the news. It has happened to me as well and I remember reading the “auction appraisal” post at Shane’s blog too. A quirk of the industry I guess.

Bill, many thanks, however to update my post, I got an email a few minutes later stating the owner renewed it!

Ughhhhh. This is EXACTLY why registrars shouldnt auction off names they dont own in order to maximize profit. The business model makes sense, but really urks domainers when this happens. Also, this lets people underhandedly test the market for their domain name value (As written by domain shane a few days ago)

Total BS. Keep the lists coming Bill, there will be another. We decided to go with SocialBinge.com anyway for a project. I like the name for $8 ; )

First off, thanks so much for these lists and keep them coming! Your hard work of sorting through them and delivering us the filtered names is appreciated.

I picked a few up today, most importantly SocialCurrent.com! I love this name and am interested to see what some friends and myself could turn this into! I also think I underpaid imo.
