Wholesale.net Up for Auction

Wholesale.net is currenty up for auction on Ebay and with less than 24 hours left the bidding has reached $9,100. Wholesale.net has an unkown reserve price which hasn't been met. The domain is registered at Moniker using privacy services. The registration dates back to October 1995 with a very active history at Archive.org.

I often wonder if these reserve eBay domain name listings are only created to generate interest in the domain name. PaintballGuns.com was listed on eBay a few weeks back and while bidding did reach $50,000, the reserve was not met and the domain did not sell. However, I'm willing to bet that auction has stirred up interest and follow up offers have been made since the auction closed. That's a lot of exposure for the price of an eBay listing fee with a reserve.

You'll find the Ebay listing below. I find it odd the seller used what I assume is a self portrait as the photo. What, no logo for a domain of this caliber?

UPDATE: The bidding for wholesale.net reached $13,250 but did not reach the reserve price.

SnapNames.com: $99 and Under from Exclusive Sellers

At SnapNames.com, there are over 500,000 domain name listings from exclusive sellers in the .com extension alone. This makes it very difficult and time consuming to search through these domains in search of good values.

I downloaded the SnapNames.com exclusive seller list and isolated the single and compound keyword domain names that were listed at $99 and under. I trimmed down the list much further by cross referencing the keyword phrases against Google's Adwords Tool. This isolated the domains that had decent search volume for the exact keywords that make up the domain name.

The following domain names made the cut. They are listed in order of highest Google search volume to lowest. Some of them are listed as low as $19.

SnapNames: Suggested Domain Names to Back Order

The following list of domain names will be dropping over the next 3 days. I isolated these domains as possible back order candidates during my normal keyword research routine. I chose these names based off the keyword search volume on the the terms that are included in the domains.

The keyword search volume on these terms makes these domains ideal for web development projects. By optimizing the sites based off the domain's keywords, you're likely to get a boost in search engine rankings for that term. Back ordering also prevents the domain's age from being reset which also helps retain the domain's authority from the search engines point of view, particularly Google.

A majority of the domains are .net. Reason being, quality keyword .com's don't drop as often. For your convenience, and to make it worth my time, each domain is linked directly to the SnapNames order page.

A Diamond in the Rough: Branding.org

There are so many crap domain name listings on Ebay. I was quite surprised to notice Branding.org listed as a no reserve auction while browsing my Ebay Domain Names page. Branding.org is nearly 7 years old, fit's the .org extension pretty well and has the benefit of nearly 10 pages of Google PPC advertisers bidding on the term "branding." In the right hands, this domain could be monetized very well.

A review of the auction and whois data for branding.org seems on the up and up. At the time of this post, the bid price was only $100 US.

UPDATE: Branding.org sold on eBay for $2550.00
