More Algorithm Changes at Google

Yesterday Google announced an algorithm change designed to target sites with excessive advertising blocks above the fold. Google wants to improve the experience of its search users by penalizing sites with content that is hard to find.
Looks to me like another update designed specifically to weed out splogs and "made for Adsense" sites. They acknowledge that it's common for many quality sites to have advertising above the fold and sites that place ads to a "normal" degree will not be affected.
They go on to say...
This algorithmic change noticeably affects less than 1% of searches globally. That means that in less than one in 100 searches, a typical user might notice a reordering of results on the search page.
As always, Google's advice to publishers is to focus on providing the best possible user experience to their visitors. Doing so will limit any exposure to SERP fluctuations due to alrorithm adjustments.
Anticipated Domaining.com Sales Newsletter Revealed.

Francois at Domaining.com has created a number of beneficial platforms for the domain community over the past 5 years. I've been looking forward to seeing how his latest idea, the January 9th sales newsletter, would work out. It seemed like a well thought out idea, benefiting all involved, that would be a good test of the sales reach for domaining.com. Surely everybody's heard of it? We've all been promoting it and discussing the details. It's smart and I admire him for coming up with it.
Like every other domain sales event it's success comes down to the domains. Good domains will sell at good prices. High prices or average domains will sit untouched. I believe it's first response to set price wins so that changes the dynamic a bit from an auction format. I suspect the publish date was pushed back to allow more time for domain submissions. Hopefully this list results in sales, bigger and smaller ones. I'll update and respond to others observations through the comments of this post.

Turn Your Domain Names Into Revenue Producing Assets
June 8, 2009 by Nameclerk

Mike Cohen and the crew over at WannaDevelop.com are celebrating the launch of DomainMassDevelopment.com by offering discounts of up to 50% off their starter domain development packages. The promotion is limited to new clients and is set to run from Monday, June 8th through Friday, June 12th.
This is a fantastic value considering that the regular price of $999 for the 10 domain package is a great deal to begin with. I wouldn't recommend anything on this blog that I haven't bought myself. I purchased 15 sites early last week when Mike offered me a similar deal to test out his services. I actually paid more per site than the current offer. You'll see a full review of those services here within the next couple of weeks.

It's no secret that a vast majority of domain names will require some type of development to bring out their true revenue potential. We're not all lucky enough to own premium category killer domain names that rake in the cash by simply parking them.
I personally own hundreds of quality keyword domains that contain exact match keywords that receive thousands of Google queries a month. Problem is, they don't receive significant type in traffic. The only way to turn these domains into revenue producing assets is to develop them so that they rank for those exact match keywords. By developing them and harnessing organic search traffic, you transform these domains from liabilities into revenue producing assets. The same goes for the domains that I post here each and every day.
I've already developed about 10 domains by myself. Let me tell you, it's not a real quick process. It takes some time if you're not proficient at web development. I will say, that every one of them now earns their keep. A few of them are now making upwards of $60 a month. Before development, they were lucky to make $1 from the 10 visitors they received a month.
Like I said, it's not easy and it takes some time, so when a professional firm comes along and offers to develop your domains at roughly $50 a pop, you better seriously consider taking them up on it. If not, what exactly is your plan and where will you find the time to implement it?
To take advantage of this offer, simply use the PROMO entry on the DomainMassDevelopment.com order page.

Network Solutions Has No Use for DomainNames.com
September 3, 2008 by Nameclerk
Filed under Domain Name News, Domain Name Tips
Network Solutions is listed as the registrar and registrant of DomainNames.com. Unless I'm experiencing some type of DNS issue, they apparently don't see the need to redirect this domain to NetworkSolutions.com or anywhere else for that matter.
Firefox returns a "page cannot be displayed" error and even more comical, Internet Explorer calls up a Microsoft Live Search page on which, Network Solutions is paying for the #1 sponsored sites position.
Is Network Solutions actually paying for traffic they already own?
UPDATE: DomainNames.com is now pointing to NetworkSolutions.com. I'm guessing they didn't know about this and corrected it. Is a reward in order? Hmmm, didn't think so.
