Finding Quality Domain Names for Sale on Ebay

Domain Names on EbayThe domain name category on Ebay is flooded with thousands of listings containing worthless domains for sale. Many of these listings use misleading titles which makes it very time consuming for buyers to find worthwhile domains in the Ebay marketplace. There are quality domains for sale on Ebay but how is a domain buyer supposed to find them easily amongst all that other garbage?

Sorting the auction listings in order of bids received would be a big help but Ebay doesn't currently provide a way to do this. How about sorting in descending price order? This option usually results in countless pages of over hyped domains with ridiculous starting prices. Anybody interested in SantaClausNorthPole.com (the most famous address on Earth) for $1,346,269? I didn't think so.

Domain buyers are forced to go through page after page of crappy listings hoping to come across the small minority of auctions that actually contain quality domains for sale. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to quickly locate those one-word dictionary .com's? How about the valuable 3 letter .com's and the recently popular 4 letter .com's which are frequently sold in bulk on Ebay?

I figured out a way to isolate these types of listings using a script I recently purchased for site development. I setup the parameters so that only domain auctions that have reached $30 with a minimum of 3 bids will be displayed. It does a very good job of isolating "What's Hot" in the Ebay domain category. It also updates automatically as the domain listings on Ebay change.

I plan on leaving it up so I encourage you to bookmark this page if you ever want to get a quick snapshot of "What's Hot" on Ebay in the Domain Name category.

You might also try the auction cleaner as pointed out on DNN: http://www.domainnamenews.com/tools/handy-tool-for-hunting-domains/1411

NameClerk: Thanks. I hadn’t come across that before.

  2. Sakeenah says:

Thank you for this listing, great tool.

  3. Max says:

I use something like that, it’s a Wordpress plugin that was about $39 bucks or so. Let’s you pick a category # or keywords and # of bids, min price etc.

Very handy, Google phpbay if interested (not my product).

Thanks for all the info on your blog.

    @Max: Yep, that’s the one.

  4. Steve says:

You CAN do a search on ebay within a catagory (.com for example) and have it list only items with a certain amount of bids. It is very easy to set up. On the left hand side of the page is the “Search Options” pane. At the bottom it says “Customize”. Guess what, go there, and you can have it add “Number of Bids”. VIOLA!!!!
It is simple, and it works great. Happy hunting!!!

    Thanks—Steve

Can someone tell me why all the people bidding for the above domains dont show their true idnames. If you
check the biddingon all the above the bidders are shown as
s***m or a***a or similar combination.

This is very strange and wonder if ebay know about this.

    Hi,

I hope you don’t mind that I used snipurl.com (aka snurl.com) to shorten
this page link in case someone wants to type it in.

    http://snurl.com/EbayDomains

No caps are needed. They are here for clarity.

    Patrick

@Patrick: I don’t mind at all. I’ve also added a permalink up top where the navigation buttons are named “Ebay Domain Auctions”.

In answer to Pete Rose above, I think it’s an automatic thing by ebay when bids get above a certain amount. When I was auctioning something off a while ago, the bidder names were visible until bidding got to £100 (IIRC).

  8. Dean says:

I was thinking about putting http://www.DomainPortfolio.com which has over 1200 domain names on Ebay. What do you think?

@Dean, I think it might generate some interest but probably wouldn’t sell at your desired price on Ebay. Your better of putting a name like that into one of the TRAFFIC auctions.

  9. The Old Vic says:

Excellent tool – many thanks just what I been looking for

  10. frank says:

I think the domain auctions on ebay are not getting the prices deserved.
    I am wondering why?

    @Frank,
Probably because 99.9% of eBay domain auctions are crap. Few take them seriously so all are affected.

  11. backorder it says:

i found some real gems on ebay…it is worth looking at…
